Bond Reduced for Man Accused of Murder Following Seguin DWI Wreck
(Seguin, TX) -- The Seguin Gazette reports that a 20-year old man accused of felony murder following a traffic accident that killed a 19-year old woman has had his bond reduced by a Guadalupe County District Court judge. 20-year old Cody Lorenz (right) is accused of driving while intoxicated on the night of Dec. 29th when he allegedly ran a red light at the corner of West Kingsbury and Hwy 46, and then slamming his pickup truck into the vehicle being driven by 19-year old Amber Robbins of Gonzales. The results of a blood alcohol test purportedly showed Lorenz was at .17, or more than twice the legal limit, at the time of the accident. Prosecutors say that because of two previous DWI cases, this 3rd case becomes a felony, and the death of the teenager then becomes murder, not just intoxication manslaughter. Lorenz was booked at the Guadalupe County Jail under a 250-thousand dollar bond, but that bond was reduced Wednesday to 125-thousand dollars. And should he be released, the judge ordered that he be required to wear an alcohol monitoring device that will immediately contact the probation office if he consumes any alcohol. So far, Lorenz remains in custody.
