Guadalupe County Grand Jury Indicts Lorenz on Felony Murder Charge
(Guadalupe County, TX) -- The Seguin Gazette reports that Guadalupe County grand jurors returned an indictment last week charging 20-year old Cody Lorenz with felony murder in the death of 19-year old Amber Robbins. The indictment claims that Lorenz was driving while intoxicated on Hwy 46 and when he crashed his truck into the teenager’s car at West Kingsbury Street this past Dec. 29th. Robbins died at the scene. Lorenz was found to be in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and alcoholic beverages at the time of the crash and was arrested. Although he later posted bail on the drug charges, an ensuing investigation revealed that his blood alcohol level was at 0.17 the night of the crash, more than twice the legal limit. Lorenz was then rearrested on Jan. 13th on a charge of felony murder with bond set at 125-thousand-dollars. Lorenz, who has two previous DWI convictions, remains in custody at the Guadalupe County Jail. His indictment by the grand jury is not a finding of guilt, but does tell the DA’s office to move forward with prosecution.
