Guadalupe County Judge Mike Wiggins Arrested for Possession of Marijuana
(Seguin, TX) -- The Seguin Gazette reports that Guadalupe County Judge Mike Wiggins was arrested earlier this week in College Station for possession of marijuana. Wiggins, a former DPS Sergeant, is in his 2nd term as County Judge for Guadalupe County. He was arrested this past Monday night at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in College Station where he was attending an ongoing education class for county Commissioners Courts from across the state. According to the report printed in today’s Seguin Gazette, a bellman at the hotel noticed the smell of marijuana on the hotel’s 5th floor and called in College Station Police. They then identified a room where the odor was coming from, knocked, and the door was opened by Wiggins, who allowed the officer inside and consented to a search of the room and his bags. That’s where a silver grinder, rolling papers, and a plastic bag containing about 20 grams of marijuana were found. Wiggins was then arrested and eventually transferred to the Brazos County Jail in Bryan. After being magistrated on Tuesday he posted a 3-thousand dollar bond and was released. When contacted by the Gazette about the arrest, Wiggins is quoted as saying, quote, “There’s nothing I can deny. It is what it is.” He indicated that he would discuss the issue further once he returned to his office on Friday.
