(New Braunfels, TX) -- New Braunfels Police reports indicate they arrested a New Braunfels man late Sunday night for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend with an ice pick before hitting her with his fists and attempting to choke her.

The incident happened around 11pm Sunday at a BBQ in the 16-hundred block of West Mill Street. According to police, the man became upset, grabbed an ice pick, and lunged at the woman, attempting to stab her in the neck.

Police then say the man then physically assaulted the woman with his fists, allegedly hitting her in the head and face multiple times before starting to choke her. That’s when the woman was able to defend herself, striking back at the man’s face enough to allow her time to escape and run to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911.

New Braunfels Police arrived at the scene and arrested 49-year old Mike Quintanilla. He was taken to the Comal County Jail and booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At last check he was still in custody with bond set at 20-thousand dollars.
