(New Braunfels, TX) -- It appears that the New Braunfels Youth Soccer Association’s corn roaster, recently stolen from a New Braunfels storage facility, has been recovered.

The theft happened at the end of last month at the Nevitt Storage location on West San Antonio Street, with the thief making off with that large piece of equipment, which was attached to a 5-foot by 8-foot trailer.

The corn roaster is the main source of fundraising income for the local Youth Soccer club, and would have had an estimated 18-thousand dollar impact on the association’s bottom line this year (not to mention the 11-thousand dollar cost to have the equipment replaced).

But KGNB has confirmed that the once bright red roasting machine was recovered last week Friday in the Canyon Lake area by Comal County Sheriff’s deputies, although it did have a new yellow and green paint job (the roaster pictured above is one very similar to the one used by the NBYSA). We talked with Dave Pryor, treasurer of the New Braunfels Youth Soccer Association, about the recovery of that equipment, and he says the Youth Soccer Association can now move forward with its plans to raise money for new soccer fields, equipment upgrades, and scholarships for local kids. You can hear his full comments by clicking the Audio Clip link below.

And we’ll have another update on the Youth Soccer club’s corn roaster later this year as they roll out the first ears of corn at Wurstfest.
